Great OTC Sleeping Pills

If you have been having trouble sleeping for a few nights, then the first thing that you should do is think about talking to your doctor. Insomnia is usually an indicator that there may be a more serious problem, and that’s something you should get checked out as soon as possible.

Once you’ve talked with your doctor, he or she may suggest that you start taking some prescription sleeping pills. Before you go and fill that prescription, you should be warned. Prescription sleeping pills aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, and they could even be bad for you.

It’s important to keep in mind that insomnia is usually merely one symptom of a more serious problem. Treating insomnia does nothing to really cure whatever it is that’s afflicting you. That’s all that prescription sleeping pills are for, so why pay extra money and risk the extra side effects when you could just use regular OTC sleeping pills?

OTC sleeping pills are virtually going to do the same exact thing as prescription sleeping aids without as many negative side effects. Although both types can have side effects, the side effects associated with prescription pills are usually much worse. In particular, they carry a serious risk of dependency that creates a lot of problems for people.

If you start taking prescription sleeping pills, you may find that you’re no longer able to sleep without them. Even after whatever was causing your insomnia is gone, you may start suffering from “rebound insomnia” caused by the pills. In some cases, you might even suffer withdrawal symptoms such as nausea and migraines.

You should stick to trying over the counter sleeping pills. They are not as strong, so you are less likely to get addicted to them. They do not require a prescription and are generally cheap, making them an all around better option to prescription sleeping pills.
