Whilst In London, Don’t Miss Out On These Free Attractions

London has iconic landmarks, beautiful architecture and plenty of sights and attractions. The best thing is that those in the know are fully aware that the highlights of London can be experienced for free.

The London museums and galleries are the places to start. The British Museum, the most visited of all is free to enter. The National Gallery and its art exhibitions don’t cost a penny and the famous Tate Modern and Tate Britain are also free of charge. The wonderful National History Museum delights the young and old, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert all make up London’s free museums.

The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the London Eye are all in close proximity and cost nothing to look at and admire. A day can be spent wandering from one to the other and taking photographs.

The Changing of the Guards is not be missed on a trip to London. Visitors should get there early to get a view of Buckingham Palace as it is one of London’s most popular attractions. Every day in summer and every other day in winter the guards start their ritual at 11.30am on the dot and it is a spectacular sight.

With views of Buckingham Palace, St. James’s Park is a perfect stop for a picnic lunch. It is free to enter, as are all the London parks, and offers free guided tours of one of London’s rare green spots. Hyde Park, with Speakers Corner, free band concerts in the summer and the Diana Fountain is also worth a visit.

Covent Garden is a must on any London itinerary and it doesn’t have to cost anything. The licensed street performers put on fantastic shows and visitors can see comedians, acrobats, singers and dancers all for free.

On Southbank near Waterloo Bridge, the National Theatre puts on free music and exhibitions prior to the paying performances. It is well worth taking a look to see who is playing and what’s on show.

It is free to worship in Westminster Abbey. Evensong is held every day at 5.00pm and tourists can join in, see the beautiful architecture and listen to the choir without having to pay an entrance fee.
